Gandhi Jayanti celebrations in Algiers on 2 October 2025
To commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, the Embassy, in collaboration with the National Moudjahid Museum of Algeria, hosted an exhibition on the life of Mahatma Gandhi, and expanding India-Algeria ties; screened documentary on legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and a video on India- Algeria relations; and organized seminar focused on the shared heritage of independence struggles in India and Algeria, as well as the prospects of progress.
A special booklet on life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi was shared with participants.
The event was graced by Mr. Omar Daddi Addoun, President of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Council of the Nation & representative of H.E. Mr. Azouz Nasri, President of the Council of the Nation; Mr. Mokrane Arezki, Senator; Mr Osmane Fouad, President of the Algerian -Algeria Parliamentary Friendship Group; representative of the Ministry of National Defence; representative of the Secretary General of National Liberation Front party.
Other distinguished guests included Algerian veteran freedom fighters, senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, think tanks, academics, journalists, and representatives of Indian community.
