Celebrations on inclusion of Deepavali in UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage

Embassy of India, Algiers proudly celebrated the inscription of Deepavali, the Festival of Lights, in the UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity .

On this special occasion, Ambassador Dr. Swati Vijay Kulkarni highlighted the profound significance of Deepavali for Indians worldwide and led officials and Friends of India in a ceremonial lamp-lighting and singing of India’s National Song Vande Mataram. The event concluded with a  video showing the announcement made at the 20th UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee session at New Delhi's Red Fort and celebrations by the Indian delegation.

The inclusion of Deepavali in UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage has given global recognition to India's cultural heritage of humanity. It is the 16th Indian element on this list.
